(July 26, 2019 – New York, NY) – On the heels of her critically acclaimed debut EP Hindsight 20/20 and ahead of her highly anticipated Lollapalooza performance, UPSAHL shares a brand new single entitled “Wish You’d Make Me Cry” today via Arista Records. The critically praised indie-pop darling once again delivers an undeniable anthem. The squeal of a siren dips into a plucky bass groove before she admits, “When I’m getting bored, I start some drama. This confession sets the tone for the track as UPSAHL leaps past pop and electronic stylings into a hypnotic refrain, “Sometimes, I wish you’d make me cry.

About the song, UPSAHL commented, “‘Wish You’d Make Me Cry’ is about being with someone who is so good to you that it almost seems fake. When I wrote this song with Pete Nappi, I was caught up in that feeling, so I started just venting to him about it. At one point, I think I said something along the lines of ‘I just wish that he would make me cry’. We wrote the song within an hour after that.”

UPSAHL continues to make headlines. Not only did her most recent single “Drugs” clock over two million streams, gain popularity on Shazam charts and adds on alternative radio stations across the U.S. (markets include Cincinnati, Columbus and Rochester), but she also attracted widespread acclaim. Earmilk described “Drugs” as “mesmerizing and cheeky” while Hillydilly called it “her best yet”.

To celebrate the release of “Wish You’d Make Me Cry”, UPSAHL will kick off a string of summer dates across the U.S. First up, she joins Shallou for an Official Lollapalooza Aftershow at Chop Shop on July 31 and takes the stage at the festival August 2. Afterwards, she performs alongside Young the Giant and Fitz and The Tantrums on August 11 in Phoenix, AZ before joining Tessa Violet on tour throughout August and September. Check out the full itinerary below.

When she was 17, UPSAHL started releasing songs, which gained much-deserved recognition throughout the Phoenix music scene. A graduate of the Arizona School for the Arts, a performing arts middle/high school, UPSAHL continued to hone her craft, while being classically trained on piano, guitar and choir every day. UPSAHL went on to ignite a groundswell of fan adoration and tastemaker praise by way of numerous indie pop gems. “Can You Hear Me Now” achieved palpable viral buzz followed by “Kiss Me Now”, “Rough,” and “Drugs”. Her enigmatic, endearing, and entrancing style garnered widespread critical acclaim from Nylon, Billboard, Consequence of Sound, Hillydilly, The Line of Best Fit, Alternative Press and more. Signing to Arista, her rise to pop ubiquity (on her own terms) has only just begun.
