FACE IT: five beauty trends to try this festival season
by gwen harris
As festival season draws ever closer, we thought it’d be a great time to share some fierce makeup looks with you all! Whether you’ve got a handful of festivals lined up, or you just want to add a pop of colour to your face, keep reading for some serious inspo.
PUNCHY PRIMARIES
One trend we’re loving right now is the use of punchy primary colours. Nothing makes a statement like a bold pop of colour, and we love the idea of taking things back to basics and using pure, bright reds, blues and yellows. These colours work great on all skin tones and can be worn on their own, or all together. You can incorporate these colours into your look as little or as much as you like. For a more subtle look, try a colourful mascara or a thin strip of bright liner. For a bolder look, go crazy and create a block eye or use graphic lines to create unique shapes. It’s your face girl, there’s no limit!

RAINBOW
If you love the idea of using bright colours in your makeup, why stop at primary colours? Rainbow stripes have been huge this year in clothing, hair, and now THE FACE! Turn your eyelids into little rainbows, or dot bright tones across your lids for a less literal look. You could try rainbow liner stripes, different colours of mascara, or even a rainbow lip. The possibilities are endless.

COLOUR BLOCK EYE
If you’re less of a rainbow gal and prefer to stick to a simpler palette, you could always opt for a block eye. Any colour works well for this look, but if you want to look extra fierce, make it RED. Red has been a super popular colour this season, and it’ll continue to rule throughout the summer months. Swap your classic red lip for a red eye and you’re good to go.

OUR KIND OF FLORAL
Another trend we can totally get on board with is an updated way to wear florals. This would work especially well for any and all festivals, but feel free to rock this on a day to day basis to freshen up your face and send out some flower power vibes. It’s super simple to incorporate real flowers into your look, whether you braid them into your hair, glue tiny petals to your lids or brows, press petals onto your cheeks with a little bit of chapstick, or use them to accessorize your outfit. Let your look be wild n’ free, just make sure you leave a plentiful amount of flowers to happily grow!

STICKER GOODNESS
Finally, we love the idea of using unconventional objects to create unique looks. Inspired by Gwen Stefani, why not go for no makeup all together, and opt for some rad stickers instead? Use found objects around your house such as confetti, stickers, glitter and jewels to create an interesting look that’s totally unique to you. That’s your power; you’re the only you there’ll ever be.
